Snow days and flu.

Hello, last week i was briefly knocked out my snow fall only to be completely floored by the worst bout of flu i've faced in years. No matter here is some messing around.

Red Kite stylise messing.

Fran and bee stylised messing, Bee didn't come off as well but i think i know why.

AnnnNNnnd Sandi is back, very low res of something i sketched and think i might take further.

Fever dreams are great, that is the only upside to flu.

Prince William is getting married... More steampunk jackets and pencils

Some sketches pulled from my sketchbook pages. Here are some ladies.

I'm going to say pretty steampunk ladies as i know it'll get me google hits just by saying the words steampunk, steampunk, oops there i go again. oh and fashion design sketches.

And life drawing, We had a big model this week which was cool, i've never really drawn such a big guy and it's always nice to have different models so you see the range in the human form.

Been travelling a lot on trains this weekend, here are some sketches, Messed up value man on the left is from the fab sartorialist book.

Some low orbit craft, i was thinking of different solar power variants while keeping the fairly fool proof delta wing rentry mech.

Oh and copying Iain Mcaig's expression tutorial.

And some outfit :P

That'll do for now, gotta meet the pixie. The sky seems to have stopped exploding too.

Helloo, i've been ill

Last weekend i was travelling up north for important matters and getting completely lost in Leed's one way system as they had closed half the roads we needed. Then this week hideously ill, so no life drawing, very little of anything but work and sweating (lovely i know)

Been sketching but not finished, here are some quick helms after realising i'm terrible at metals.

More life drawing

Computer bluescreened while saving last night, grrr.

Luckily analogue media survived... though charcoal is much more temporary in many ways,

Here are some highlights from this weeks life drawing.

2 mins - charcoal on tracing paper. Took me FOREVER to loosen up.

only one of my earlies worth saving, charcoal on my beloved simili japon hotpress

Paints coming, when they are ready :)

Sci fi!!

Heylo blog checkers!
I'm having a real sci-fi time atm, started getting back into it, just a quick drop of a sketch i did earlier, ref'd from a shot taken by the ISS. The quick interceptor design is based on the underside the the space shuttle uses for atmospheric reentry. I tried to suggest both atmospheric and vacum based engines. I'll upload some more sketches of ships based on those theories.

Life drawing

I'm thinking a change of tact is in order for my blog. The reason i updated weekly was to give myself a marker, a visible point at which i could measure how much work i was doing weekly, looking for patterns in subjects and media to see what i was missing. Now i'm doing a lot of drawing i will only be uploading what i consider good work, instead of everything i do, hopefully this will force me to really work on a solid standard. I will still try and update weekly though, but probably a bit more choice cuts.

But first!!

Life drawings.
Went to Candid arts in Angel, i am VERY rusty.

30 mins

2 mins

and a film still...

Planes planes and planes

I haven't been drawing that much interesting recently, just planes and trying to get my foundations better, this is for two reasons i think, i'm in a bit of a lul and i've been realising how much I've been living off shortcuts and symbolism in the place of true drawing. A circle with two dots and a line always looks like a head, but to really be able to communicate i need to know a lot more than that. Enough rambling, sketches -

Little bike sketch.
I've been doing a lot of these, full body ones too, i'll throw up this early one, I don't really want to fill the blog with the rest.

Girls and flightmasks.

Girlies this post... I need to draw more men, some muscley frowning men, maybe next week.

Here's another go at the red kite, just killed the colour to take a look and it's not looking great... but i'm learning. I once again need to thank Yip for giving me some really useful crits.

Got a bit stuck on her gas mask so put some quick variants together to get my brain working.

And some stuff from the sketchbook.

This maybe my latest update ever!

I now have internets! so what is my excuse i hear you cry, none really, went back to see my family at the weekend, and generally seem to have spread my time over about 8 sketchbook pages and 4 psds, i'll show those next week, here's just some more rendering i did on some old page on the train.

I'm meeting up with a variety of illustrators so i'll show all next update.

Watercolours, coffee shop gestures and a sargent trip

This week i have mostly been eating.. no thats one for the folk growing up in the 90s.

This week i've mostly been working, met up with a friend over from Sweeden, one back from searching for owls, and one who left his self imposed exile in the bowls of IBM.

Also on the weekend i went to see the Sargent and the Sea exhibition at the RA here in London.

Enough chitter chatter for the holmes, here's some art:

Quick snippet of where i'm up to with this:

Coffee house sketches after the sargent.

Red kite, Huntarian skulls and Robot renders.

Hey all, hope you've had a lovely weekend,

I've been chatting a lot to Yip, a time traveling creator of fabulous art, his link is on the right.

Did this after learning some stuff from him, about 2 and a half hours, got part way through, redrew the design.

Met up with Daniel Harries, Fran, Chloe and Kate on Saturday, did some huntarian drawing, some sketching, walking and chatting.

New flat is taking shape, we have panda arm cushions ^______^

Hellooo! I'm moving / moved

I've moved to London to lessen my commute and to leave the shire for a while.

So for the past two weeks i've been moving furniture and all that jazz, so haven't had time to really draw much or come near the blog.

Anyway, here's an update, No internets at home, so this is updated at lunch at work :)

Quick 45 min study.

Some sketches

Messing about with brushes on the urban fox.
